LAKE TAHOE WILDERNESS EXPEDITION

Experience all Lake Tahoe has to offer on a 5 day extended adventure. Hike into Lake Tahoe’s back country and enjoy high alpine lakes, towering forests, granite mountain tops and breathtaking scenery. Explore distant frontiers, fish forgotten streams and climb rugged ridgelines. Enjoy the peaceful solitude as we camp each night under the milky way and take in a dazzling display of the night sky.

This all inclusive package provides everything you need for a once in a lifetime adventure including: meals, transportation, gear, tents, laundered sleeping bags, backpacks, mountain bikes, kayaks, permits and knowledgeable wilderness guides. We have taken all the guess work out of your trip. Bring yourself and we’ll take care of the rest.

TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1

Into the Backcountry

Welcome! We will meet in South Lake Tahoe at 8AM. Upon arrival you will meet the crew, discuss the day ahead of us and go over any safety precautions and concerns. From there we will shuttle you to the trail head where we will begin our journey into the Lake Tahoe’s vast backccountry.

Throughout the days 4 mile hike we will cross cascading rivers, traverse captivating granite ridge lines and experience beautiful alpine lakes. Upon arrival of our final destination we will setup camp along the shorelines of a peaceful alpine lake. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon swimming, float tubing or fishing. As the sun sets our camp chef will prepare a fine dining outdoor experience amongst the wilderness as the stars come out overhead.

Day 2

Mountain Life

Wake up to the sun dancing on the waters. Breakfast will be served at 8AM and we’ll be back on the trail by 10:00 AM. Today’s hike will bring us deeper into the backcountry and include several wildlife viewing opportunities. The trail will dive into a barren granite moonscape as we make our way to one of the Largest backcountry lakes in the region.

Upon arrival we will setup camp and offer several activities along the waters edge including: rock climbing, slack lining, fishing and exploring the vast surroundings. At night we will setup telescopes and watch the milky way come to life. With no light pollution the night sky is a spectacle to witness.

Day 3

Long Strides & Wild Rides

We’ll hit the trail and begin our a gradual descent through towering forests, lush vegetation and a multitude of snow fed lakes. The hike will take us through some of Lake Tahoe’s most diverse landscapes, littered with breathtaking vistas along the way.

Upon arrival, our shuttle will whisk us off to the starting trail head for our mountain bike adventure. Outfitted and equipped with mountain bikes we will ride across vast flowering meadows and into the wilderness. Experience amazing single tracks, peaceful forests and adrenaline filled downhill rides. We will reach camp and enjoy the evening amongst the shorelines of a remote wilderness lake. Complete with campfire, tall tales and the night sky above.

Day 4

Paddles Up

Back on the trail by 10AM we’ll mountain bike to our shuttle pick up point and travel North to one of Lake Tahoe’s signature beaches. Upon arrival we will outfit all our guests with kayaks to embark on our next adventure. Leave the shore behind and paddle through crystal clear waters, experience hidden coves, lost beaches and towering rock formations on our way to to the jewel of Lake Tahoe.

Paddle through the mouth of Emerald Bay, beneath glacier carved granite mountains. Bald Eagles and Lake Tahoe’s only island await. We’ll setup camp right on the shores with spectacular views of Emerald Bay. As the sun sets and the stars come to life we’ll take the kayaks out onto the water to experience a Lake Tahoe’s waters at night.

Day 5

Fun in the Sun

In the morning we’ll break down camp and head over to Fanette Island. Explore the island on land and beneath the water as we provide optional snorkeling gear for our more adventurous guests. Journey across the bay and to one of Lake Tahoe’s vast beaches. Lay out, swim or take a tour of the historic Vikingsholm castle. After a relaxing morning we’ll set out on the kayaks and journey along beautiful shorelines to our final destination Camp Richardson. With the journey over enjoy a ice cold Rum Runner on sandy beaches. You deserve it!

Fine dining in Lake Tahoe's Wilderness

We are meticulous about the food we serve on our trips and the way we prepare meals. Our produce is fresh and organic. We carry plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and all our meats and fish are organic and hand picked. Our guides are spectacular camp chefs and trained in food preparation.  Vegan options are available for all our meals.

We provide a variety of beverages including coffee, tea, juices, beer and a selection of California wines.

Tahoe Jack's Five Day Adventures

Tahoe Jack’s Adventure Authority currently has numerous scheduled trips available throughout the summer of 2020.  Our standard rates for all 5 day adventures is $1,995.  A deposit of $500 per person is required to reserve a space for our extended stay adventures. The balance is due 30 days before departure or in full if there is less than 30 days. You can reserve your trip by calling an adventure adviser at 775-901-3307.  There is a 4 person minimum for all adventures.  If you have less than 4 people, please call to see if we have already met our minimum.  In which case we will accept parties of less than four.

HIKE
Hike into Lake Tahoe’s wild backcountry. Experience miles of untapped wilderness. This is nature in its raw form.
KAYAK
Kayak Lake Tahoe’s azul waters. Discover hidden beaches, forgotten coves and rugged shorelines. It’s a whole different world on the water.
MOUNTAIN BIKE
Mountain bike through lush meadows. Travel through towering forests on exciting single tracks. We have fun downhills for those adrenaline junkies as well.
FISH
Lake Tahoe’s backcountry is home to a plethora mountain trout including: Rainbows, Browns, Brookies and the elusive Mackinaw trout. Fish forgotten rivers and high alpine lakes. (Optional)
ROCK CLIMB
Try your hand at rock climbing. Our guides are certified instructors and will have all the equipment needed to provide you with a on hands training session in one of the most scenic environments. (Optional)
SNORKEL
Snorkel through Lake Tahoe’s crystal clear waters. With visibility rates of up to 70 feet below, the scenery is just as beautiful below the water as above. (Optional)
FLOAT TUBE
Float tube on some of the Sierra’s most majestic lakes. Kick back and relax and let nature take care of the rest. (Optional)
STAR GAZE
Watch the milky way come to life every night. With no light pollution you’ll experience the night sky in brilliant form.
BEACH PLAY
Enjoy some beach time. Soak up the sun, play frisbee and work on that perfect tan. Lake Tahoe’s beaches are nothing short of spectacular.
WILDLIFE VIEWING
Lake Tahoe is home to an abundance of wildlife. We’ll keep an eye out for deer, marmots, partridge, eagles, badgers and the elusive California black bear.
CAMP
We’ll camp each night in some of the most scenic areas of Lake Tahoe’s wilderness. Enjoy the campfire, recap the day and experience life in the slow lane.
CLIFF DIVE
For those adventurous individuals we’ll provide several cliff diving / jumping opportunities along the way. Our guides provide safe locations for those thrill seekers looking for a shot of adrenaline. (Optional)
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

Yourself & Personal Items

We provide just about everything you need for your vacation, including comfortable tents, freshly laundered sleeping bags, personal waterproof backpacks, mountain bikes, fishing gear, kayaks, and other camp essentials. We strive to make the logistics simple and we are always available to help you with planning. This is an easy, hassle free, Lake Tahoe backcountry trip. Fishing in Lake Tahoe is outstanding. You’ll need an California fishing license. You can get one upon arrival in South Lake Tahoe or you can purchase one online below.
